Privacy policy
GeoNiche is a small geography game. This page explains what it stores about you, and why. Short version: only what the game needs, nothing is sold, and there are no ads or tracking.
If you make an account
- Email and password: used only to log you in, confirm your account and reset your password. Passwords are stored scrambled (hashed) by our login provider, so nobody can read them, including us.
- Signing in with Google: Google shares your name and email address with us. We don't receive your Google password or anything else from your Google account.
- Display name: the name you choose. It may be shown to other players in future features like leaderboards.
- Game results: your daily challenge scores and answers, and your best practice score, so your stats and streak follow you across devices.
If you send feedback
Question ideas, error reports and difficulty ratings are stored so the game can be improved. Each is stored with a scrambled code made from your internet address, used only to stop spam (a limited number of sends per hour). The name field on question ideas is optional.
Stored in your browser
Your sound settings, today's daily progress, your streak and recently played questions are kept in your browser's local storage. You can clear them at any time by clearing this site's data in your browser.
Services we use
- Cloudflare: hosts the game and stores feedback.
- Supabase: handles accounts and stores account data and results.
- Google Fonts and jsDelivr: deliver the game's fonts and code library. They receive your internet address when your browser loads these files, as with any website.
These services only process data to run the game. We don't sell or share your data with anyone else, and we don't use advertising or tracking cookies.
Age
You must be 13 or older to make an account. Anyone can play without an account.
Deleting your data
You can delete your account and all its saved results at any time: open the account menu in the game and choose Delete my account. For anything else, or questions about your data, contact [YOUR CONTACT EMAIL].
Changes
If this policy changes, the date at the top will change too.
